Creating a Sustainable

World For Our Mokopuna

Sustainable Papakura Works with
the community to nurture and protect Papatuanuku

We team up with individuals, families, groups and organisations to re-imagine and remake lifestyles that will support Mother Earth to sustain us into the future.

Information, workshops and a range of other opportunities and activities are available to help us all learn and work together to make Papakura a vibrant, eco-friendly and Sustainable Community.

Nau Mai Haeremai

Our Base is now at

 47 O'Shannessey St, Papakura.

Welcome to 2023!

This year Sustainable Papakura is focusing on how we can all step more lightly on the planet, finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint which in turn contributes to climate action. As we enter an era of more extreme weather events the science is clear: everything we do as individuals contributes to collective action which does make a difference.

You can find some new ways of living that will help reduce your carbon footprint. You can also encourage others to do the same.

We have planned themes throughout the year which will be reflected in our Window Displays, workshops and other events.

February’s theme is ‘EAT’. Increasing the amount of plant based food in our diets while decreasing the animal based foods will make a difference. Lets see what we can do. Visit Live Lightly for more information, or borrow a copy of ‘Eating to Save the Earth’ from our Base.

What Are We Doing In Your Community?

Community Involvement

We like to go out and about getting everyone involved in making ours a resilient, sustainable community. You can participate in our bi-annual Sustainably Made Art competition -that's SMART; join us at Community Events; or you can invite us to your place: group, organisation, workplace or event. We can offer a guest speaker, waste audit, Q & A session or workshop tailored to your needs. You'll see a Snapshot of our activities on our gallery of stories and pictures.
