Sustainable Living Workshops

Wanting to live more sustainably at home? Join us for a range of workshops that will help you learn new skills for re-using and repurposing, reduce packaging and plastics, lighten your carbon footprint and save you dollars. Whether it's learning to make your own cleaning mixes, composting your food waste or repurposing used items,  these workshops will give you the satisfaction of having Made it Yourself.
Workshops are low cost, family friendly and a great chance to meet like minded others.

Current Workshops

project working bees

Getting involved with our Community projects through regular working bees is a great way to contribute to your community, promote sustainability, and connect with like minded others in your community. It is also an opportunity to learn new skills. Currrent projects are making Awhio Mai Peke re-useable bags, tending the Urban Edible Planters, and making items for our Sustainable Shop.

Our programmes for Kids enable them to participate in a wide variety of activities which encourage creativity and promote skills, while they learn to be resourceful and waste wise by re-using and re-purposing. Some Holiday programmes may be run in conjunction with the Library or other organisations.

Kids programmes are free, but a Gold Coin fee may apply for materials. All children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

From time to time we release virtual Sustainable Living Skills workshops on our Facebook Page. These remain available for viewing at any time and new releases will be advertised on facebook and website calendars. Currently you will find activities for celebrating Easter and Anzac Day using materials found at home, and a series about worm composting.

Member Only Events

As a Charitable Trust, Sustainable Papakura depends on a voluntary workforce. We like to host occasional events to recognize and celebrate the volunteers who make it possible to work towards our mission of creating a sustainable community. We also want to provide opportunities for volunteers to contribute their ideas and feedback on the Trust’s plans and operations. These events appear here on our website calendar for your convenience.
